Genesis 1:1-25

1. Read verse 1. What words are written in the first verse of the Bible? Think about the meaning of these words? What difference does it make to know that God created the heavens and the earth? Read verse 2. What was the state of things before God spoke?

2. By what instruments did God create the world? (Heb 11:3) How many times the phrases “God said” and “it was so” are repeated? What does this tell us about God? About his word?

3. What did God create on the first day? Why do you think God did so? What did God create on other days? Can you find any order or progress?

4. What other phrases are repeated in this chapter? And how many times for each phrase? What do these phrases tell us about God? About the world he created?

5. How many times is the word “God” repeated? What is its significance?
