by   06/12/2009   Matthew 1:1~17

Question

1. What do you know about and remember from Matthew’s gospel? What might be the purpose of your Matthew’s gospel study? 2. Read verse 1. How is Jesus introduced? What does this tell us about Jesus? Who is David? Who is Abraham? What is the significance of this description? 3. Observe verses 2-6a (cf. Num 1:7; 1 Chron. 2:4-5, 9-15). What draws your attention? Why do you think Matthew recorded this in this way? 4. Observe verses 6b-11 (cf. 1 Chron. 3:5, 10-14). What is peculiar here? Who among the kings of Judah were omitted in the genealogy of Jesus? What can you say of these kings? 5. Observe verses 12-16 (cf. 1 Chron. 3:17-19). What can you say about this part of Jesus’ genealogy? How does it come to Jesus? Read verse 17. What is the conclusion of this genealogy? What can you learn from the genealogy of Jesus?
