THIS IS A GIFT OF GOD

by   07/02/2018   Ecclesiastes 5:1~20

Question

1. From this chapter, the author speaks of God. What is preferable in the house of God (1)? Why (2-3; Judges 11:35; Prov. 10:19, 20:25; Job 20:8)? 2. What does the author instruct about making a vow to God—its purpose and attitude(4-6)? Why does fearing God instead of much dreaming and many words matter (7; Prov. 20:25, Ac 5:4)? 3. Why is it advisable not to be “surprised (i.e., provoked) in regard to the sufferings of the poor and the weak (8-9; Ps 12:5)? What is it like to love money and wealth (10-12; 1Ti 6:9-10)? 4. Contrast the joy of living humbly and the burden of the rich(13-14)? What is the obvious reality of this life people too easily forget about (15; Job 1:21; Ps 49:17; 1 Ti 6:7)? Besides, how serious is the struggle process for living (16-17; Prov. 11:29)? 5. As the author put God in this life’s picture, what good does he find about this life (18)? Think about a gift of God and his work for his people (19-20; Dt 12:7, 18). * What is your response to the author’s “realism” of this life? How could you find hope and beauty in this life?
