PREACH THE WORD

by   06/01/2018   2_Timothy 4:1~22

Question

1. Read verse 1. What shows the solemnity of Paul’s charge to Timothy? How should an awareness of God’s presence, of Christ’s second coming as Judge, and of his eternal kingdom affect our attitude toward our mission? 2. Read verse 2. In light of this verse, what is our most important task while on earth? Why? (See Ro 10:14; 1Co 9:16) 3. How was preaching the word of God the focus of our Lord Jesus’ ministry? Of Paul’s? How can we “be prepared”? What does “in season and out of season” mean? How can we “correct, rebuke and encourage” all at the same time? Why are “great patience” and “careful instruction” necessary? 4. Read verses 3-4. Why do men “not put up with” and “turn aside” from sound doctrine? Why are so many people eager to teach and listen to false doctrine? Read verse 5. What does it mean to “keep your head”? What is “the work of an evangelist”? How is this related to verse 2? 5. Read verses 6-8. What does it mean to be “poured out like a drink offering”? What can we learn here about Paul’s situation? About his view of his life? About his faith and hope? What can we learn from him about how to live the Christian life? 6. Read verses 9-13. Why did these various men leave Paul? Who stayed? Why might Paul have needed a cloak and parchments? Read verses 14-15. Why did he warn Timothy about Alexander? Read verses 16-18. What could Timothy (and we) learn from Paul’s faith while on trial? 7. Read verses 19-22. Who were Priscilla and Aquila? (Ac 18:2,3) Onesiphorus? (2Ti 1: 16-18) Erastus? (Ac 19:22) Trophimus? (Ac 20:4; 21:29) Who were the people around Paul at that time? What does this show about him? What were his final greetings?
