1. In verse 1, how is Jesus introduced? Why in that way? 2. In verses 2-6, what are striking in this genealogy of Jesus? (cf. Ge 25:24-26; 29:31-35; Num 1:7; 1 Chron. 2:4-5, 9-15) 3. In verses 7-11, whose names are omitted? (cf. 1 Chron. 3:1-5, 10-14; 2 Kings 8:25; 11:2; 12:1; 14:1; 23:30-31,34; 24:6,8, 17) (re: Jeconiah is Jehoiachin in the footnote) Why? What can you say of these kings written in this genealogy? 4. In verses 12-15, whose names are written in the Old Testament? (1 Ch 3:17-19; Ezra 3:2, 8; 5:2; Ne 12:1) What can you say about this part of Jesus’ genealogy? 5. In verse 16, how is Jesus described? Why such a way? 6. What is the significance of verse 17?
